What NOT to wear to dinner in the summer
Dressing "fashionably" is kind of ridiculous sometimes. People wear uncomfortable, inefficient, and sometimes just plain stupid articles of clothing in the pursuit of looking good, or if not that, at least feeling good. To this day, I will never understand why clothes/shoes/accessories that don't feel physically good on my body actually make me feel more confident about myself. Perhaps the need to satisfy an outer charade to cover up the tumult within? Okay, getting too deep. Time for clothes.
Alright so I wore this outfit to go out to dinner with my frandz. We ate at this Mediterranean restaurant and everything looked really good, which is why I regret wearing this.
First of all, these shorts. Technically, they're hot pants, but I did not unleash their full potential for tonight. This was the first of my poor outfit decisions. Since I wore them below my waist, they were super tight, making it impossible for me to indulge fully in the Mediterranean cuisine available to me. I mean they looked cute, but I had to pop the top button just to eat soup, that's how tight they were.
The shirt was the next poor decision. It was literally 95 degrees out, yet I decided to opt for a Steve Jobs-esque turtleneck from Forever 21. Thankfully, we sat inside while we ate, because I think I would've gotten a heatstroke.
My shoes-ies are from J.Crew, I've talked about them before, but I really like how I mixed the dull gold in my shorts with the light gold of the shoes. Mixing metals whoo!!!!
So yeah, that was tonight's outfit. I say tonight because I spent the majority of the day wearing a tshirt and tempos to run errands and go to the gym. I still don't get athleisure.
Also, I hate how all my pictures end up being mirror selfies from my iPhone. I'm gonna have to eventually enlist one of my friends to actually take a picture on a real camera lol.
xox,
Shamika
